Free Plugin Settings
Full reference for every setting in Settings > WhatsApp Chat Button. Settings are grouped into sections matching the admin page layout.
WhatsApp Number
| Setting | Description |
| Phone Number |
Your WhatsApp number with country code. No +, spaces, or dashes. Example: 9609901234. This is required — the button will not appear without a valid number. |
| Pre-filled Message |
Optional text that auto-fills in the WhatsApp message box when the visitor opens the chat. Example: Hi, I have a question about your services. Leave blank to open an empty chat. |
Button Design
| Setting | Description |
| Button Color |
Choose any color using the color picker. Default is WhatsApp green #25D366. This color applies to the button background and pulse animation. |
| Button Label |
Optional text shown beside the button icon. Example: Chat with us. Leave blank for an icon-only circular button. |
| Custom Icon |
Upload a replacement icon image via the WordPress Media Library. Leave blank to use the default WhatsApp logo icon. Recommended size: 64×64 px, transparent PNG. |
| Popup Theme |
Controls the greeting popup background. Light shows a white popup; Dark shows a dark background. The button color accent is applied to both. |
| Position |
Bottom Right or Bottom Left. Bottom Right is the default and the most common placement for WhatsApp buttons. |
Button Size
| Setting | Description |
| Desktop Size |
Slider from 40 px to 90 px. Controls the diameter of the button on desktop screens. Default: 60 px. |
| Mobile Size |
Slider from 36 px to 80 px. Controls the diameter of the button on mobile screens. Default: 54 px. Set this slightly smaller than desktop to avoid the button feeling oversized on small screens. |
Greeting Popup
The greeting popup appears above the button when a visitor first lands on the page. It provides context before they click.
| Setting | Description |
| Agent / Team Name |
Name shown in the popup header. Example: Support Team or Emma — Sales. If left blank, the popup header is hidden. |
| Greeting Message |
Message shown in the popup body. Example: Hi! How can we help you today? Supports line breaks. |
| Tooltip Label |
Short text shown beside the button on hover (desktop) or as a small tag above the button (mobile). Example: Chat with us. Leave blank to disable the tooltip. |
Animations & Visibility
| Setting | Description |
| Enable Pulse Animation |
Toggles the green pulse ring that radiates outward from the button. Draws attention without being intrusive. Enabled by default. |
| Hide Until Scroll |
When enabled, the button is hidden on page load and only appears after the visitor scrolls down. Useful for keeping the initial view clean above the fold. |
| Scroll Offset |
Only active when Hide Until Scroll is enabled. Number of pixels the visitor must scroll before the button appears. Default: 200 px. |
| Appearance Delay |
Seconds to wait after page load before the button fades in. Default: 2 seconds. Set to 0 to show immediately. |
| Display On |
All Devices (default), Mobile Only, or Desktop Only. Use Mobile Only if your desktop visitors primarily use a contact form instead of WhatsApp. |
GDPR / Privacy
| Setting | Description |
| Show Consent Checkbox |
When enabled, a checkbox appears in the greeting popup. The visitor must tick it before the WhatsApp link opens. Useful if your privacy policy requires explicit consent before sharing contact information. |
| Consent Text |
The label shown next to the consent checkbox. Default: I agree to share my contact via WhatsApp. Customize to match your privacy policy language. |
No cookies, no tracking: WaFloat does not set any cookies or make third-party requests. The GDPR consent checkbox is purely about the act of opening WhatsApp — no data is stored or tracked by the plugin.
