Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to fix them. If you don't find your answer here, email viscubes@gmail.com.
Button not showing on the site
Work through these checks in order:
- Go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard and confirm WaFloat — WhatsApp Chat Button is active (not just installed).
- Go to Settings > WhatsApp Chat Button and confirm a phone number is saved. The button will not render without a number.
- Check the Display On setting — if it is set to Mobile Only, the button is hidden on desktop browsers.
- Check the Appearance Delay setting. If it is set to a high value, the button may still be loading. Try setting it to
0temporarily. - If you have WaFloat Pro active, check Settings > WaFloat Pro ⚡ > Display Rules. An include rule may be limiting the button to specific pages only.
- Disable other plugins one at a time to check for a conflict, then re-enable them. Contact us if you identify a conflicting plugin.
WhatsApp not opening when I click the button
- Wrong number format: The most common cause. Your phone number must include the country code with no
+, spaces, or dashes. Example:9609901234, not+960 990 1234. - Desktop browser: On desktop, the button opens
web.whatsapp.com. If that tab opens and then fails, WhatsApp Web may not be linked to your account. Try signing in at web.whatsapp.com directly. - WhatsApp not installed on mobile: On mobile, the button opens the WhatsApp app. If WhatsApp is not installed, the device may show an error or open the App Store instead.
Pro features not appearing after activation
- Go to Settings > WaFloat Pro ⚡ and check that the License Key field shows Active. If it shows Invalid or is blank, see the license key section below.
- Confirm both plugins are active: WaFloat — WhatsApp Chat Button (free) AND WaFloat Pro. Pro requires the free plugin to be active.
- Try deactivating WaFloat Pro and reactivating it. Go to Plugins, click Deactivate next to WaFloat Pro, then click Activate.
- Check your PHP version is 7.2 or higher. Go to Tools > Site Health in WordPress to see your PHP version.
License key shows as invalid
- Copy the key directly from your Gumroad receipt email or library page — do not retype it manually.
- Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces. Paste into a plain-text editor first and copy again if unsure.
- Each Gumroad purchase generates a unique key. Make sure you are using the key from your WaFloat Pro purchase, not a different product.
- If the key still shows as invalid after following the above steps, email viscubes@gmail.com with your Gumroad order number.
Business hours not matching actual time
- The most common cause is an incorrect Timezone setting. Go to Settings > WaFloat Pro ⚡ > Business Hours and double-check the timezone matches your actual location.
- Also check Settings > General in WordPress — WaFloat Pro reads the timezone from WP settings as a default but the Pro settings field takes priority.
- After saving the correct timezone, test by visiting your site at a known in-hours and out-of-hours time.
Department selector popup not appearing
- The department selector only appears when two or more agents are enabled. With one agent, the button goes directly to that agent's WhatsApp number.
- Go to Settings > WaFloat Pro ⚡ > Agents and verify that at least two agents have the Enabled checkbox ticked and a phone number filled in.
WooCommerce message not showing product info
- Confirm Enable WooCommerce Integration is toggled on in Settings > WaFloat Pro ⚡.
- The product context message only appears on single product pages (URLs like
/product/product-name/). It does not apply to shop or category archive pages. - Make sure WooCommerce 6.0 or higher is installed and active.
